Socket 775 CPU
The socket 775 CPU is an Intel socket that is a bit different
from all of the other sockets until now. I think of it as a reverse to what I was used to back when
it first came out. This change has helped many computer builders from ruining their fragile computer
processors. It also has increase the power to the front bus by creating stability.
This change is the layout of the computer cpu pins. They are not provided on the computer motherboard
instead of the intel cpu. Now you simply insert the computer processor into the socket and close the lid
and your all done! The middle of the computer cpu is left open so you can apply a
thermal compound.
As you came here to find out about a socket 775 cpu I will tell you what you should be looking for.
A couple types of computer cpu will conform to socket 775. I will list them below and give a short
description of their capabilities.
Intel Pentium 4 Prescott
Intel Pentium 4 Cedar Mill
Pentium D Smithfield
Pentium D Presler
Intel Pentium 4 Prescott

The Intel Pentium 4 Prescott CPU line was a great computer cpu. However, it was not exactly what what
Intel thought it would be. It pretty much tops off at 3.8ghz and is a single core. It is a 90 nanometer
computer processor and surprisingly enough the last one made by them. In all it is a great computer
cpu and I own one myself in my super old Dell computer that I just can't throw away for some reason.
Intel Pentium 4 Cedar Mill

This socket 775 cpu is just like the prescott except that it tries to bring a little more efficiency to
the user. It does this by having 65 nanometers on the computer processor. This is a great thing
that they are able to do this, but the speed enhancement are just not capable within this line of
technology and this will be the last time you see it.
Intel Pentium D Smithfield

This computer cpu was the first dual-core processor available. It also was a real treat for
computer overclockers world wide. As we all do we have to test the limits of our computer
parts everytime. They quickly discovered that this computer processor is capable of going
to 4ghz without too much work!
Intel Pentium D Presler

I really don't have much to say about the presler version of the Pentium D. It was the last pentium D made and it has
lots of different levels to choose from YOU can get a 915 all the way to 960.
