The speed has gone up without making it exclusive to the 64 bit technology. This fact is good if you still have old hardware and software in your computer, that just won't be able to make the big change to 64 bit yet. Of course, 64 bit has been around for a while and I know a ton of people that just won't upgrade because they fear they will just need to upgrade again just as soon. The simple fact is if your computer works for you in its current state there is no reason to get a completely new computer!

You can purchase the AMD Athlon 64 FX Processor for around $100 from an online retailer depending on the speed you need. All will be a good buy and a well deserved upgrade for you computer. You can probably find this processor at a store for an inflated price, but who can afford that these days?
