The Western Digital Element 1.5TB review shows that big western digital portable hard drives does not have to be slow and unstable. It has been fast, quiet and reliable for many people. However, I believe that the 1TB version may be a bit more stable because of its lifespan.

It is a well known fact that large computer hard drives do not last that long because the amount of space the pin has to move over to read data. If your data is all over the disk it has to move farther and faster to read the data, which wears it out faster. It is like doing suicide drills with the Boston Celtics! I am sure you couldn't keep up with that pace either. People have seen this computer hard drive die within weeks of purchasing it, but is has been a minimal amount. Of course, this sort of thing happens all the time and you just use the manufacturer warranty and get a replacement and you never hear the customer again because it works now. You can purchase the Western Digital Element 1.5TB for around $135 from an online retailer. I recently saw this at Best Buy going for $170 so the price is pretty close if you call $35 dollars pretty close.
