The design of this computer hard drive is just like any other one you have seen just with a lot more space!
Originally, they came out with a 5400rpm version of this western digital internal hard drive because it is a Storage Oriented Drive (SOD). However, they have upped the performance and moved up to a 7200rpm spindle speed without increasing the heat of the computer part. The heat has been known to get around 30+ celcius in heat with standard air cooling. You still won't have to worry about getting a hard drive repair because of the heat.
The best hidden feature about the Western Digital Caviar Green review is that the performance is not considerably slower because it is a SOD. It is averaging around 12ms response time with test done by a variety of computer part specialists. Most SATA drives around 7200rpm get around 8.1ms response time. This type of speed would be noticed if you used this as your operating system on a high power computer. As a backup or storage drive it is perfect. You can use it to do a clone hard drive if you need that quick switch for some reason. If you format hard drive, you may not like the slower speed, but its 2 terabytes.... that is to be expected.
