The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R is known as a great intel motherboard for your slightly older computer cpu (Intel Core 2 duo and others). I made a night and day change on all my older computers by upgrading the quality and amount of DDR RAM. Of course DDR2 is not DDR3, but laptops like the Macbook perform very well with it. Also DDR3 comes at a premium of price without the large performance boost.
