The Arctic Silver 5 review shows that this CPU grease is the best heatsink compound you can get. It has not been upgraded for a long time. I am thinking that Arctic Silver and many other thermal compound manufacturers are running out of ideas for heat transfer. Something new must be made to transfer heat through metal better, but I am not smart enough to think of it myself.

The Arctic Silver 5 review shows that you will not find anybody complaining about the performance of this heatsink compound. It is the leader and for good reason. I can't say much about what it does, but many people have seen significant drops of 20 degrees with the change from standard heatsink compounds to Arctic Silver 5.

If you are scared of messing up your components you could always switch to Arctic Silver Ceramique for $11. It is still cheap and lets you be a little messy with the liquid around the computer components. Since it is made up of a little bit of ceramic it allows you to cover some of the computer motherboard without having to worry about damage and then computer repair.

If you need to clean up the Arctic Silver 5 then you will need to use ArctiClean . It is a 2 part cleaner for cleaning the heatsink compound off the computer cpu and the purifier makes the computer cpu cheap completely clean like an alcohol rub so you can apply another heatsink compound. It is a must have if you want to make sure that you get an optimal heat transfer connection when changing or reapplying a heatsink compound.

Price

You can purchase the Arctic Silver 5 for around $7 from an online retailer. The last time I bought it from a computer store it was around $12-15. Most major retailers will only have the generic kind. I must truly tell you that those will cool the device, but no where near the way this heatsink compound will. If you are building your own pc do it right and use Arctic Silver 5! Your computer cpu will thank you!
